How Cannabis Saved My Skin

The Effects of CBD Oil on Your Skin, and How It Actually Works

With all this new overwhelming information and results from all aspects of the cannabis plant, it's becoming pretty hard to ignore at this point. Although it is technically still federally illegal, people are finding amazing results—from curing severe to acute cancers of all types, treatment for glaucoma, controlling epileptic seizures, slowing progression of Alzheimer's disease, easing the pain of multiple sclerosis, treating inflammatory bowl disease, and helping veterans suffering from PTSD and depression. And this is just the tip of the iceberg! Cannabidiol can improve your life in plenty of ways! In this particular article, I wanted to focus mostly on cannabis' oil form, and more specifically, CBD oil.

Although it was previously thought that consuming or using cannabis oil topically would stimulate the oil production in your skin due to a temporary spike in testosterone, it has actually been found that CBD oil, rather than galvanize it, impedes lipid synthesis, especially if the lipid synthesis was originally "on the loose" like it would be with acne. Basically, CBD-dominant cannabis oil would balance out the oil secretion rather than produce more.

How does it work?

While scientists are just now finding out more of the components inside the cannabis plant, the top ones for acne include CBD, CBC, and CBDA with their inflammation combating abilities which benefits the immune system, while also reducing puffiness or redness.

Another surprising fact about this plant is its concentrated content of linoleic acid. In order for you to combat things like dry skin, whiteheads, blackheads, and acne, cannabis has about 50 to 60 percent of your daily value of linoleic acid. "Linoleic acid helps regulate the production of high quality sebum when you get a whitehead, the consistency of your sebum changes. It becomes sticky, hardens, and clogs your pores."

Lastly, this wonderful plant is PACKED with various antioxidants (which are vitamins, minerals, and enzymes) and omega fatty acids. These help by giving protection from free radicals as well as stimulating the growth of healthy new cells.

And just remember, like everything else in science, this plant is constantly evolving and adapting in the information realm and all throughout medical fields. Keep your eye out and never stop reading up on its advancements!
