Everything You Need to Know About Dab Pens

Information About Dab Pens

With the increasing number of marijuana-legalized states, there is building hype around this green flower. People are showing interest in experiencing weed, and the so-called feeling of a ‘high’. Now, there are several ways of ingesting marijuana like inhalation, oral, sublingual, or topical. Inhalation can have the fastest effect on consumers. In this article, we are going to discover inhalation through dab pens.

What is a Dab Pen?

‘Dabbing’ is to ingest cannabis concentrates through e-cigarettes, or a vaporizer pen. A dab pen works as a vaporizer to vape cannabis concentrates. Smoking includes burning the marijuana flower to release its active components, which go through our lungs. Vaporization includes heating the cannabis concentrate to a temperature, until the release of its active ingredients in the form of vapor.

Dabs are smaller concentrates of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the cannabis compound that makes you feel high. The process of extracting includes usage of solvents like butane, or carbon dioxide, which results in a sticky oily substance. Dab pens are compact devices, and hence are also considered one of the best portable vaporizers. You can consume many forms of concentrates, such as shatter, butter, oil, wax, etc. It is advisable to look for factors such as portability, battery life, charging options, materials, warranty, vapor quality it can offer, and so on.

How does it work?

Dab pens look like a traditional writing pen. It includes a chamber (atomizer) to hold the concentrates, a battery, and a mouthpiece to inhale the vapor. It also comes along with a micro USB charger to charge the battery. The batteries include buttons, cylindrical, or rectangular in shape, and large or small, depending on the size of the pen.

The process involves placing it on the coils, allowing the heat to melt it down on a wick which later absorbs the product. The wick then heats up the concentrate to create a vapor. Temperature plays a key role in vaporizing. There are different types of materials found in the market, and each requires a different heating level. Too high of a temperature can burn the material, and not vaporize it. Oily concentrate may need a temperature of around 440°F to 550°F. Others may need lesser heat (360°F to 400°F). The power button activates the battery to start heating the concentrate inside the chamber, and then sends it to the mouthpiece to inhale.

Benefits of Dab Pens

Dab pens are easy to use, and are portable. Since it doesn’t burn the flower, its effects are purer. It is a discrete way of consuming cannabis.

Some other benefits of using a dab pen are as follows:

  • Smoke-Free–In vaping, there is no combustion or ash, and hence it is smoke-free. Burning them can wipe out the active ingredients of the herb.
  • Less Whiff–Since the smoke does not exist, you do not have to worry about the smell.
  • Micro-Dosing–For dabbing you only need a very little amount of consumption. It thus helps micro-dosing, which also functions well for medical marijuana.
  • Versatile–Whether you are indoors or outdoors, you won’t have to worry about the smoke.
  • Durability–Concentrates support longer potency than the flower. They usually contain 80 percent-90 percent of THC, making it more efficient than smoking.
  • Saves Money–You can save some money on dab pens, as these vaporizers are cheaper than the glass. Good quality dab pens can cost under $50 or so, and to replace the cartridge it will cost less than $20.

Safety Concerns and Risks

Consuming cannabis leads to a different state of mind and body. You should understand the legal concerns about using dab pens before purchasing them. The sticky oil may contain contaminants harmful to the body. To cut these compounds, it has to go through several lab testings, use of high-grade solvents, and well-trained professionals for the extraction. Consider the potency of THC extracts (between 60 percent-90 percent). Also, always choose a good quality product, as the cheap ones may only include a nail attachment, and a hand-held blow torch.

You can learn some tips on how to use a dab pen or vape pen. Since the THC compound is high in weed dabs, you should start with a moderate amount, and be aware of any side effects. These have become prevalent as a way of getting a cannabis experience. You can try the disposable ones while traveling to avoid recharging batteries every time. These are anyway a good travel companion for your adventurous journeys.
