In life, we should always strive for the best of everything: the best car, the best partner, the best job, and the best video games to play stoned. Full of action, mystery, challenge, and fun, the best video games to play stoned offer everyone, stoner or not, a chance to escape real life for a little bit and enter a new world. Stoned or not, these games are awesome, but I can't help but argue they're a little more fun when high. Besides, when playing high, you might think in a different way than you would normally while playing, and uncover new aspects of the game. So roll up a joint, get that bowl of munchies ready, call over your friends (or don't), and indulge in a day of the best video games to play stoned.

Dark Souls has been named one of the best video games ever made, so it's a natural pick for one of the best video games to play stoned. The name itself gives off a feeling of adrenaline, emotion, and continuous play. Playing stoned will keep you cool in calm in an otherwise action-packed experience. It is an action game developed by FromSoftware. The environment of the game is quite simple, and minimalism is the word I could choose to describe the plot. The style of the game is quite rough and epic, making it simple to play. Everything is done for you, just go and fight.

Despite those that mock World of Warcraft player, this game has always been and for me it will always be one of the best video games to play stoned. I have been playing this game from an early age, it was the first game to make me spend money, and it totally changed my life. World of Warcraft is more than a game, it’s a story and its own separate world—encompassing the most ordinary human warrior and ending with my favorite undead warlock. What a world to experience after a good smoke.

Ridiculous Fishing is a simply... ridiculous game that is always waiting when you're too stressed out by more traditional games. It's great for calming the nerves, and therefore is great to play while or after smoking. It requires much less focus than some of the other games on this list, and is perfect for those days that you want to do nothing but sit back and chill.

A bit of an older game, Far Cry 4 is an extremely expressive first-person action game that portrays an alternate world that draws you in quickly. It's not an easy game, but as you get used to it you become unable to stop playing. The player is confined to an island, but there are so many things to do and to see. And the most important is the delicacy required to succeed in the game, as you must accomplish your missions without killing people, moving like a shadow. What better way to take the edge off of such an intense game than enjoying a good joint before you get going?

If you're looking for a video game to play stoned that has some stunning visuals to accompany your high, Journey is the game for you. The game takes you on travels through endless deserts that are ethereal. These visuals are also accompanied by an excellent soundtrack, making even the sober feel a bit of a high while playing.

Now it’s time for puzzles. The minimalism and the geometric images that accompany most puzzle games make this genre full of perfect video games to play stoned. The simple organization behind the game itself gives you something to focus your attention on, and your high may even let you approach the puzzle from a new perspective. In the case of Monument Valley, the adorable characters are an added bonus.

Minecraft can seem to be a relatively simple concept when sober, but play it high and the theories behind the game get much deeper. You are all alone in that huge world, doing everything yourself, building and accomplishing on your own. It seems to be a huge look into the human subconscious.

No list of things to do stoned should ever be created without a South Park themed activity. South Park – The Stick of Truth is one of the strangest games I have ever encountered, but that is why I believe it is such a great video game to play stoned. After all, the South Park humor gets exponentially better the more weed you have smoked.

When your head is in the clouds, take it into space with No Man's Sky. Drive a spaceship, discover new planets, and explore the cosmos, all with stunning visuals that are sure to make you feel like you are actually there, depending on how much you've smoked that day.

The somber themes of Limbo are probably best faced after smoking, as otherwise they really are depressing. The eerie color scheme and film grain effects give the game a surreal feeling that is only enhanced by some good bud. Many have called Limbo an example of a video game as an art form, and we all know art takes on so many new meanings when we're stoned.
